THE COLUMNS MUSEUM AND PIKE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY:The Columns Museum is operated by The Pike County Historical Society which preserves the heritage, artifacts, and cultural objects used throughout the history of Pike County. The most precious possession, located in the Columns Museum, is the Lincoln Flag which is the large flag that had been draped over the balustrade in Ford’s Theater. This flag was pulled from the balustrade and used to cradle President Lincoln’s head when he was laid on the floor dying from the assassin’s bullet. The flag has been officially authenticated to be the flag that was pulled from the balustrade and stained with Lincoln’s blood.
