Letter regarding Ambulance Referendum on Election Ballot

Borough of Milford

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

Dear Milford Borough Residents,

I am writing to you today to tell you about an important referendum that you’ll see on the November ballot to fund ambulance service in Milford Borough.

We are fortunate to have EMS volunteers who presently provide about 12 hours a day of coverage of ambulance service. Beyond those 12 hours of service, we’ve benefitted from ambulance services in surrounding communities who will respond to calls in the Borough (as our EMS volunteers also respond to calls outside the Borough).

However, that means response times can be slow, especially if the ambulance is on another call or must come from a long distance.  In an emergency, there isn’t time to waste.

A “YES” vote on the Ambulance and Rescue Tax Question will enable us to increase our coverage to 24 hours a day, improve response times and help save lives.

The cost to property owners will be approximately $70 per property per year, depending on the assessed value of the property.  We feel that this is a small investment to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents and community.

The funds raised by this increase in millage are dedicated and can only be used for emergency services; they cannot be diverted at a later date for other purposes.

We hope that we can count on your vote on this important referendum.   Please reach out to the Borough Office at 570-296-7140 with any questions and thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Frank Tarquinio
