SPECIAL BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING
February 13, 2019 MINUTES

On February 13, 2019, the Milford Borough Council held a Special Meeting in the Borough Hall in order to discuss the submission of bids on two (2) Police cars from Shohola.

PRESIDENT TARQUINIO CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 7:08 PM. PRESENT: TARQUINIO, COUNCIL MEMBERS ROB CIERVO, ANNETTE HAAR, ADRIANE WENDELL, CONSTITUTING A QUORUM. ALSO PRESENT WAS TREASURER GREG MYER.

Ahlstrand noted that all Council members were given 24 hours notice, as required, and that the meeting was advertised in the Pocono Record and posted on the website.

Tarquinio said the purpose of the meeting was to discuss a proposal by Chief McCormack to submit bids for two police cars previously used by Shohola Twp. One is 2013 (35,000 miles), one is 2016 (25,000 miles), both equipped with cages and other equipment used by police (except for computers).

Question from Haar- where would money come from? Myer said from the Capital Reserve (items not budgeted for, but which come up during the year that we “have to” do- not for “good deals”). Noted that we have the following possible expenditures: Brookhill Rd., Catharine St wall, Park, Sewage studies. Improvements to 500 Broad coming out of capital reserve already at $17K+. Balance in Capital Reserve is $204,900+. Myer also noted that we just purchased a new police car- $43,000.00.

Tarquinio said he emailed Mayor Strub. He is ok with taking money out of police donations (totals about $20,700 between Kinder Morgan and other). Wendell noted that at the time of the purchase of the new police car the Council discussed buying a new car every 3 years.

Haar noted that it is only February; there will be more high priority items.

BY MOTION OF WENDELL/HAAR, COUNCIL DECIDED TO PASS ON BIDDING ON THESE TWO CARS FROM SHOHOLA.

Also, discussed clarification of raise voted on at last meeting for Zoning Officer. BY MOTION OF WENDELL/HAAR, COUNCIL APPROVED THE INCREASE IN SALARY OF THE ZONING OFFICER TO $2/HR., RAISING IT TO $17.50/HR.

Ahlstrand noted that the Planning Commission had met and signed maps for Pike County Commissioners approving the lot combination for the parcel deeded from the Borough to the County for the SallyPort. BY MOTION OF WENDELL/HAAR, THE COUNCIL VOTED TO APPROVE THE LOT COMBINATION APPROVED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION ON FEBRUARY 11, 2019.
